Publication bias occurs when results are more likely to become visible because they are positive, striking or statistically significant. The available record then overstates effects.

A noticeboard covered with successful experiments looks impressive if failed and inconclusive attempts stayed in drawers. Visibility has selected the story.
Now put that into markets
Research literature, strategy marketing and internal reports can favour favourable outcomes. Missing studies alter reviews and base rates.
Pre-registration, trial registries and complete result policies reduce selective visibility. Funnel diagnostics are suggestive, not definitive.
Search unpublished work, protocols, discontinued products and negative findings. Compare planned outcomes with reported ones.
Not every asymmetric record proves suppression, and low-quality unpublished work is not automatically informative. The process needs evidence.
