Raw direction is the source label before transformation; displayed direction is the label after the documented presentation rule. Tradour keeps both so inversion cannot become hidden interpretation.

A translated document remains auditable when the original line sits beside it and the translation rule is named. Keeping only the translation makes mistakes hard to trace.

The historical BSP presentation applied a global inversion. Tradour records that transformation rather than overwriting the underlying source value.
Research can test followed-displayed, opposite-displayed or raw conventions, but the chosen version belongs in the frozen specification.
Inspect raw label, displayed label, transformation version and tested interpretation together. Never infer one from a chart colour alone.
An inversion rule does not show which direction is economically correct. Selection after seeing results would create a new exploratory test.
