Reading the evidence
Robustness is the degree to which a conclusion survives reasonable changes in assumptions, definitions, samples and methods. It is accumulated evidence, not one favourable alternative specification.

A bridge that stands only under one exact load arrangement is fragile. Testing realistic loads and conditions reveals whether the structure, rather than the setup, carries the result.
Now put that into markets
Market findings can be rechecked across nearby thresholds, periods, outcomes, cohorts and estimators. Changes should be justified rather than searched for support.
Sensitivity analysis, placebo tests and independent replications test different failure modes. Stability does not establish causation or future persistence.
Predefine the most credible alternatives and report the full pattern. Explain why each variation should or should not preserve the effect.
Trying many robustness checks and showing only survivors repeats the original selection problem. Cosmetic variants add little independent evidence.
